These days most people in the world do not wear very formal clothes. But sometimes it is important to wear the right thing. Many British and Russian people don't think about clothes very much. They just like to be comfortable.
At the theatres, cinemas and concerts you can put on what you like — from jeans and sweaters to T-shirts and shorts. Anything is OK as long as you look clean and neat.
But men in offices usually wear suits and ties and women wear dresses or skirts (not trousers).
Doctors, lawyers and businessmen wear formal clothes. And in some hotels and restaurants men wear ties and women wear smart dresses. Jeans and open shirts are sometimes not allowed.
It is difficult to say exactly what people wear in Britain and Russia because everyone is different. If you are not sure what to wear, watch what other people do and then do the same. Or ask the advice of a friend. You'll feel more relaxed if you don't look too different from everyone else.

I think that there should be formal clothes at school: both boys and girls should wear the school form. It seems to me the boys should wear the dark-blue trousers, a jacket and a white shirt. They should wear dark shoes.
And girls will look very attractively in blue skirts and waistcoats. The light blouses are very beautiful, especially blue and white tones. The girls might put on golf's and light stockings. I think that this suit is the most suitable for school.

I think that sportswear should be bright, beautiful and suitable for different kinds of sports. The person should be convenient and cozy in it.

Many people especially young people take no notice of the clothes the designers produce. They wear things which express their and feelings about life. If a boy has very short, almost shaven hair, people expect him to have right wing polities. But boys with very long hair are thought to have left wing politics. A boy who wears a leather jacket covered in bits of metal will probably ride a motorbike. A girl who wears Laura Ashley dresses will probably have middle-class ideas.
